In Europe, when the movement to take off the social dress of religion began, as a new culture, a few schools and colleges started teaching girls and boys under same roof.
First, co-education began in higher education institutions, and then a handful of schools. The first college of co-education was established on December 3, 1833 in Oberlin, Ohio, USA, with 29 boys and 15 girls. There was a long period of silence around the world after this one incident. Co-education for boys and girls began in 1876 at the University of Bristol in Britain, almost 43 years later.
Separate educational institutions for boys and girls continued to operate in all countries of the world, as the people of Western society of that time were also well aware of the dangers posed by the mixing of men and women, and till that time the Genie of secular and liberal intellectuals was also not out of lamp completely, so when the few educational institutions around the world of that time started co-education, they were seen with great surprise and amazement.
In the Oxford, which is considered to be the mother of the "modern educational revolution" though, Nuffield College admitted five girls with boys for the first time in 1937, while co-education began in 1974 in the rest of Oxford's institutions.

Such is the history of all the western countries of the world and the centers of modern civilization. The educated class and the intellectual tribe of these societies opposed regular co-education for a whole century. Everyone pointed out the dangers posed by men and women working together in a single setting. But in the nineteenth century, the race for capital, the industrial revolution and the creation of corporate society not only transformed man into a complete robot, but also destroyed the ancient moral standards and concepts of society.
In the name of industrial development, women, men and children were first brought together in factories. It was the worst, most oppressive and exploitative environment. And as a protest, countless articles have emerged, most notably Charles Dickens's novel "Oliver Twist." The novel tells the story of a British child as he climbs the ladder of progress. This orphan, Oliver, born in a factory and then lives through countless horrific experiences, the experiences from which,every child laborer was going through in that industrial Europe. Child labor is the gift of this "modern corporate secular" society to the whole world.
Innumerable laborers were required for development, so every member of the household was put in a race to "earn" and lined up with the leases of machines, where duty was taken for eighteen hours. Children would fall asleep on these leashes and die, women would be sexually exploited by their masters but would remain silent for fear of losing their jobs, and men would see this collective slavery as a stepping stone to progress.
In order to make society industrial, secular and liberal, the family institution was first dismantled. Everyone was put in the race to make money, and when "capital" became the greatest "moral force", then every institution or concept which could stand in the way of secular and liberal values, was destroyed.
The biggest obstacle in this path was the two separate domains of men and women. Because of their physical Structure, strength, and connection to the outside world, men were pursuing occupations that increased household income and prosperity. While women were doing most important job by training, educating and refining the "morals" of most important pillars of society,ie children, and then presenting them to the whole of humanity as a masterpiece..... But in front of the running wheel of textile mills, both men and women were equalized in terms of functioning together...so in this way this obstacle was removed.
This was the environment of European factories in which "organized sexual harassment" initially began. It is a European tradition that forced and helpless women and oppressed children continue to be the victims of these capitalists' lustful sexual appetites.
Today, laws are made against it all over the world, arrests and punishments are made, but no one separates the workplaces of men and women so that the cause of this crime can be eliminated.
When societies were dominated by corporate, secular, liberal ethics, then efforts were made to create a fashion for mixing men and women in educational institutions as well. You will be amazed that only fifty years ago today, men and women were getting educating separately. The most surprising thing is that all the great thinkers, scientists, writers, novelists, poets, writers and philosophers of the modern world, etc. All of them graduated from such institutions, where co-education did not even have a name. After that, the current fifty years of co-education is called the age of mediocres by the world.
Countless large institutions in England and Europe did not offer co-education until the 1970s. But in the subcontinent, the British mixed higher education a hundred years ago. Because we had strong social ethics, so the environment of these educational institutions remained clean. But the last thirty years have passed in Pakistan in which secular, liberal morality has grown to such an extent that the old moral system has collapsed. That is why the moral problems of our society today have become like the problems of the developed countries around the world.
The protest against sexual harassment by the students of the University of Peshawar is just a tip of the iceberg. These girls have also come out to protest en masse, as the echo of moral values can still be heard in the families of Pashtun society. It is not yet common in this society to remain silent on the destruction of one's own honor and dignity while on the path of progress and success.
This Co society is an ugly society in which Madonna, the queen of the music world, proudly says, "I lost my virginity as a career move." Today, the moral ascension of this secular, liberal developed society is that if a woman sacrifices her virginity to reach the goal of success, then she is honorable. We have kindled this fire of hell by ourselves and we will be the fuel of this hell.
